Hi, it’s Organically Yours, Ingrid and I want to help you with some of the best skin care tips and information. To achieve a more radiant skin and beautiful complexion, it is vital to use only the purest skin care products, particularly those made only with raw, chemical free and natural ingredients. In this blog, I will help to explain why a healthy diet, right lifestyle and a positive mental attitude, helps the skin to become softer, firmer and achieve an unmistakable glow.

From the start, I’d like to emphasize that becoming more beautiful is available to anyone, regardless of your present health, condition or age, who is willing to create beauty through changes in diet, external skin care and mental outlook. What we put on our skin is just as important as the food we eat. The skin is the body’s largest organ and plays a crucial role, not only in the elimination of toxins and in regulating our internal temperature, but also in terms of absorption (a route by which substances can enter the body). Therefore, it is critical to use skin and personal care products that, first of all, are free from toxic chemical ingredients, secondly products that are made with natural ingredients (for example cacao (cocoa) butter or cold-pressed oils like olive oil. I have become a label reader and have found ingredients that I can at times barely pronounce so can I really know what it is? My passion is to research to seek understanding, and now my passion can help you too. Have you every looked closely at your skin care products and say this ingredient, Propylene glycol? Found in many skin moisturizers, propylene glycol is an ingredient also found in brake fluid and industrial anti-freeze. It greatly damages and ages the skin. It also causes rashes and dry skin. That’s just one of many examples. Though this and other chemical/synthetic ingredients are approved/allowed in cosmetics in small amounts, imagine using these products with every day for weeks, months and years. In comparison, nature, plant oils absorbed through the skin mobilizes the “body’s own self-healing powers—things like antioxidants, minerals, vitamins and essential fatty acids present in the natural ingredients. Antioxidants for example, help to reverse skin ageing and inflammation and help heal scar tissue. Minerals play a key role in beautifying the skin, hair & nails. Collagen & connective tissue provides elasticity & flexibility to the tissues. Vitamins such as A, C and E are moisturizing, soothing and healing to the skin. Essential fatty acids help to remove toxins from tissues. The benefits are considerable. The skin is a breathing and functional organ covering our body that holds our skeleton, muscles, and vital organs all in one neat safe package. Our skin sweats, absorbs, feels sensations, and protects everything inside. It is important that we take care of it, so it can continue to function at its best for us.

So many things affect our bodies and skin. You’ve had weight-loss surgery and you are looking fabulous as you are feeling healthier, but you’re noticing that your skin seems to be so dry! You’ve had a problem with acne or oily skin before, then you are elated that your skin has cleared up and is less oily. But your skin has gone from normal to a new extra dry skin with some discomfort from itching and flakiness. This example of developing dry skin after the is more common than you think. Not getting enough fluids is probably the biggest culprit but not solely responsible. Acne and oily skin can often come as a result of eating certain foods.

Skin care is something that needs to become a part of our daily routine as much as getting enough sleep, water and healthy eating. By pampering your skin, will feel healthier, look more radiant, and you will probably knock a few years off your appearance too! So many people focus on weight-loss achievements, but in would we should general focus on our overall healthy appearance.

Here are a few tips for pampering your skin and body. I highly recommend at least twice a week a good bath soak in bath salts. It will give your dry skin the extra treatment it needs. Bath salts soften the bath tap water for the skin while the skin absorbs the softness from the salts just like clothing absorbs fabric softener. In summer months, if you do a lot of swimming in chlorinated pools, your skin will truly thank you after a good bath salts soaking. Bath salts also provide a long-lasting effect and make the skin feel refreshed. Plain Epsom is all you need. You can even ad regular baking soda to the Epsom salt bath and your bath will now also be detoxifying.

Calendula oil is a soothing mild oil that is an extraordinarily healthy food for the skin. Calendula oil has many powerful therapeutic properties. It is very versatile and nourishes the skin. Calendula is packed full of antioxidants that has anti-inflammatory properties and antifungal properties. It is effective for treating dermatitis, keratosis, acne, spots, burns and cuts, varicose veins, sun burns, acne, rosacea, mosquito bites, skin infection and fungus and more!

Don’t forget the lips! They can suffer too from dryness! Use a good moisture-rich product, and you may not know that the cure for chapped lips lies in drinking plenty of water each day, using a humidifier in your home, protecting your face from the cold when you go outdoors, and of course, the liberal and frequent application of soothing and conditioning lip balm. Lip balm should be worn throughout all seasons as the cold, heat, wind, and sun are not kind to unprotected lips. Whatever you put on your lips will inevitably end up in your mouth, so we recommend using only natural products that will heal and protect your lips with wholesome, organic ingredients. Instead of sitting on top of your lips, these balms will be absorbed through the skin for longer lasting moisturization. There are ingredients that you may have in your home that make a great DIY/homemade lip balm like, coconut oil, olive oil, shea butter, cocoa powder, vitamin E oil, beeswax, almond oil and honey.

Feel good and look good inside out. In the late 70’s early 80’s, there was a character on television by the name of “Slim Goodbody”. He was the superhero of health.  His skits also focused on exercise, personal hygiene, and nutrition. His character taught children how to care for and about understanding the workings of the human body and healthy living. John Burstein, the man responsible for bringing Slim Goodbody to life, said the purpose of Slim Goodbody was to create “some positive feelings about what it means to be a human being.” When asked what he wished for kids to get out of his shows, he said, “I hope they take away a sense of how wonderful they are, how wonderful the body is, and that possessing a body that’s so wonderful means there’s something marvelous about themselves.” Much like “Slim Goodbody” I hope you can take away information and tips from this blog that gives you a sense of how wonderful you are, and how wonderful it can feel to experience life in good health inside and out.
